AndBeyond Serengeti Grumeti Tented Camp is set in the western corridor of the magnificent Serengeti National Park at the edge of a permanent oxbow pan formed by an overflow of the Grumeti River. Supporting lush riverine forest, the Grumeti River provides a sharp contrast to the surrounding plains and hosts some of the Serengeti's more unusual species, such as the black and white colobus monkey. The camp is built amongst tall evergreen trees on the water's edge. The water of the pan is home to families of grunting hippo that float amongst the watery carpet of lilies and the birdlife is varied and prolific. The Western Corridor offers more than just an annual stop-off point for the migration. Its colorful topography of hills, rivers and flood plains provides year-round habitat for many of the Serengeti's species. Accommodation is in ten flamboyant tents under thatched canopies. Each of the spacious tents are twin bedded (all convertible to double beds) and have a deck and en suite bathroom which comprises of hand basin, separate shower open to the stars and separate w.c. There is a ceiling fan and the local sculptured furnishings and vibrant decor bring alive the excitement and romance of Africa. The guest areas of this intimate camp include an open fronted dining area, a lounge area and domed bar. The décor is colorful and "funky" with unusual beaded antique artifacts. The spacious decks are perfect for sundowners overlooking the river. A secluded sheltered boma ensures star studded romantic dinners. The camp has a plunge pool perched on the banks of the oxbow pan where guests can view abundant pods of hippo at play. A curio shop is located near to the entrance of the camp.
