  • This stylish and intimate boutique hotel occupies carefully restored buildings dating back to 1771. The hotel has thirteen bedrooms and two suites, each uniquely designed and tastefully decorated. Many of the rooms consist of high-beamed oak ceilings and yellowwood floors. Cape Heritage Hotel offers a fully air-conditioned environment, with all rooms featuring luxurious en suite bathrooms, telephone, satellite TV, radio, digital safe, fully stocked minibar and international plug points. Twenty-four hour room service, security, porterage, valet parking and business and secretarial services are also available. An elegant drawing room, smoking room and library with Georgian fireplace provide refined and congenial venues for rendezvous, high teas or private business meetings. As an integral part of the restored Heritage Square, Cape Heritage Hotel offers direct access to a vibrant community of restaurants, wine merchants, art galleries, jewelers, fine craft and fashion shops. Many of these are located around the 18th century courtyard which features the oldest known vine in South Africa. The restaurants offer fine and varied cuisine, ranging from innovative cosmopolitan fare to fresh, homemade pasta and sauces, all of which can be enjoyed al fresco in the quiet of the courtyard. An interesting wine bar, dramatically set in the former slave quarters offers guests the most comprehensive list of South African and imported wines in the Cape.

  • Scheduled flight Cape Town - Kruger Mpumalanga (flight cost not included in tour price)
  • Chilli Pepper shared charter flight Kruger Mpumalanga - Mala Mala
  • Mala Mala is set in beautiful surroundings on the banks of the perennial Sand River. Thatched ochre colored chalets are clustered amid shady trees and manicured lawns overlooking the Sand River. The spacious rooms enjoy spectacular views and are all equipped with “his” and “hers” bathrooms, 24 hour temperature control, insect proofing, direct dial telephones, a mini-bar and a mini safe. Dinner under the stars in the reed enclosed boma, has been a MalaMala tradition for over 60 years. Seated around a log fire, guests enjoy traditional bush food and outstanding South African wines. The spacious, beautifully decorated Buffalo lounge displaying bronzes, works of art and animal trophies leads onto an expansive wooden deck which provides an elevated view of animals watering in the Sand River. Photographic safaris are conducted in open 4-wheel drive vehicles which allows for total freedom of movement and the ability to leave the road and track down Africa's Big Five - Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo. MalaMala Game Reserve comprises 16000 hectares of pristine game viewing land, making it the largest privately owned game reserve in South Africa, with human density and impact on the land being kept to an absolute minimum, because only guests accommodated at one of the MalaMala camps may traverse this immense tract of privately owned game land. Another reason for the typically excellent game-viewing is the unfenced border between with the Kruger National Park, which allows herds of animals to migrate unhindered to the perennial Sand River which flows north to south through the MalaMala Game Reserve for 13 miles. After dark, spotlight safaris provide the opportunity to view nocturnal creatures and carnivores on the hunt and walking safaris with an armed ranger can be arranged on request.

    Day 8 - Day 12
  • Chilli Pepper shared charter flight Mala Mala - Kruger Mpumalanga Airport
  • Pelican Air scheduled flight Kruger Mpumalanga Airport - Vilanculos 11:45am – 1:15pm (Tue, Fri)
  • Road and Boat Transfer from Vilanculos Airport to Marlin Lodge
  • The Bazaruto Archipelago is known as the 'Crown Jewels of the Western Indian Ocean'. Benguerra is a glittering gem in this chain of islands and Marlin Lodge is the perfect spot for a magical escape. Each day you'll be reminded of the archipelago's colourful past as fishermen pole their beautiful dhows - a sight unaltered in centuries - out to catch the wind. The locals continue to live a laid-back island lifestyle - harvesting their crops, cashew trees and the ocean's bounty. And late at night you may hear the pulse of distant drums. Your accommodation at Marlin is wood-reed-and-thatch chalets, beautifully integrated into the environment. The en suite chalets are a blend of African elegance and tropical island beauty and each has a patch of beach to itself. Drift into slumber listening to the lap of waves and the breath of trade winds in the palms. The living-dining area is crafted from ironwood and red mahogany - Robinson Crusoe could have asked for nothing more. The pool is set in a glade of coconut and Ilala palms, perfect for a day of lazing and tropical cocktails. Raised boardwalks limit damage to the sensitive dune environment and lead to the chalets. From this vantage you can watch the antics of red squirrels and a host of birds like brown-headed parrots, green pigeons and Burchell's coucals. Meals range from semi-formal affairs in the dining room to casual beach buffets. Activities on offer at Marlin include scaling the highest dunes during a round-the-island tour, or grabbing a sun umbrella and picnic basket for a day on a desert isle. Or delve the deep ... Two Mile Reef is a favourite among divers. Here you'll find a protected pool known as the Aquarium, one of southern Africa's finest snorkeling spots. The archipelago's world-class dive sites offer the chance to see Mozambique's gentle giants: whale sharks and manta rays. Guests can enjoy a variety of motorised water sports such as water skiing, knee boarding, parasailing, tubing and water snaking. Non-motorised water sports include windsurfing, hobi cat sailing and ocean ski paddling. Although protected by the five-kilometre width of the island, Marlin Lodge is ideally situated for access to the open ocean. Through these deep channels one has quick access to the continental drop offs, which are the haunts of marlin, sailfish and other deep-sea game fish. Rates are available on request for these optional activities, which are payable direct at the lodge. For the birding enthusiasts, over 164 different birds have been identified on the island. This tropical island provides a beautiful escape whether you are diving, fishing, walking on the beach, shell collecting, sailing, snorkelling, boating or taking day trips to the surrounding islands.
