Day by Day Itinerary Back to Trips for Zambia

Classic Zambia

Your safari begins at Sussi Lodge, which is situated in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park and overlooks the Zambezi River. Accommodation is in luxurious tree houses each with a private view of the river. The Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park is best known for its giraffe and white rhino but also boasts buffalo, zebra, sable, eland, wildebeest, migratory elephant and many other species. Activities available at the lodge include: game drives, guided bush walks, canoeing, river cruises, cultural visits to nearby villages, visits to the Falls themselves and as optional extras, a choice of all the adrenaline activities for which the area is famous. After two nights you transfer by chartered flight to Zambezi Kulefu camp in Lower Zambezi National Park. The Lower Zambezi was for many years a forgotten wilderness and because of its remote location, has become a haven for many of Africa’s ‘big game’ species. The park is situated in the Zambezi Valley, opposite Mana Pools National Park, a World Heritage Site. It is bordered by the steep Mukamba Escarpment to the North and the Zambezi River to the South, which concentrates the animals in a fairly narrow riverine corridor, making for excellent game viewing. You continue your safari with a flight to Mfuwe International and then a game drive to Chichele Presidential Lodge in South Luangwa National Park, formerly a private Presidential retreat, Chichele occupies one of the most breathtaking sites in the entire park. In order to exploit the wonderful floodplain vistas offered by the site, 10 elegant Victorian style lodges are built along the edge of the hillside, giving each lodge a private panoramic view. The Park is noted for big game species particularly leopard, lion and elephant and a whole host of antelope species. Game drives by day and night in four wheel drive vehicles or game walks in the company of armed professional guides, ranging from short excursions to all day trips are the activities on offer.
