Kilalinda Lodge sits on a sandy promontory overlooking the Athi River. There are six cottages that have been designed to luxurious levels of comfort, but also to ensure utter privacy should one desire it. Each cottage features its own shady private patio looking out over a stretch of river. The only interruption will be from the sparkling procession of starlings, sunbirds, weavers and hornbills that descend regularly to feed off the bird tables. The cottages have been individually designed and decorated with four-poster beds, stylish hand-dyed bedspreads and thick woolen carpets. The attention to detail continues through to the five star fine Italian cuisine cooked by the excellent chef. At Kilalinda all pastas, breads, pizzas etc are homemade and served with fresh salads and vegetables organically grown in their own garden, accompanied by the finest selection of Italian wines. Lunch may be served on the platform overlooking the Athi River or on the poolside lawn. Dinner in the grand dining room will be a sumptuous candlelit five-course feast. The setting is always homey and unpretentious. You can choose to be woken up with an early cup of tea or coffee brought to your cottage where you can also witness the magnificent African sunrise over the Yatta Plateau. Enjoy an early walk with your guide, along the riverbanks, spotting the many different species of bird life, identifying animal footprints in the sand, and spying on the hippos and crocodiles. In the afternoon you could go on a game drive with your guide looking for zebras, shy bush buck, water buck, and the more elusive leopard and end with a sundowner on a platform built high up in a large baobab tree where you can enjoy a glass of wine, watch the magnificent sunset, the tranquil sounds of the African bush and on a clear day see Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance. On returning to the lodge why not indulge yourself with a “star bath” in your romantic bath beneath a starry African sky with a glass of “bubbly” before dinner. After dinner you can gather round the bushfire on the platform overlooking the river with an after dinner liqueur and talk of your day’s adventures. Alternatively, at your complete discretion, you can enjoy a full day exploring Tsavo and its National Park with a tasty picnic lunch, returning to the lodge in the late afternoon. The emphasis at Kilalinda is always on relaxation; the highly trained staff is there to take care of your every wish.

Road transfer from Tsavo West Airstrip to Campi ya Kanzi
Bordering Tsavo West and Chyulu National Parks, and just next to Amboseli National Park, Campi ya Kanzi accommodates only a maximum of 12 guests and provides the most unique opportunity to experience the real African Wilderness. Stretching from the Chyulu Hills to the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro (the highest mountain of Africa) the altitude of the ranch ranges from 3,000 feet to 6,900 feet. This variation and the vastness of the area assure an incredible biodiversity. Here you can enjoy most of the different environments of Kenya, and the wildlife that inhabits them, from mountain forest, to grasslands, to green river woodlands, to bush and the savannah. More than 50 different mammals and 400 bird species are found in the Ranch. Beside the big five (elephant, rhino, leopard, lion and buffalo) rare animals such as lesser Kudu, Gerenuk, Cheetah, and Wild Dog inhabit the Ranch. The Plains game is very rich and interesting antelopes such as the Klipspringer and the Mountain Reedbuck are found on the hills. The Fringed Ear Oryx and the Maasai Giraffe are very common, as well as zebra, wildebeest, impala, etc. After lunch you may enjoy an hour and a half game walk, or longer if so desired, to a very nice granite hill, Longido, for a sundowner. Then you drive back to Campi ya Kanzi, for a 5 course excellent Italian dinner. Imagine starting your day with the aroma of fresh Kenya coffee or tea brought to your tent by your personal Maasai attendant, while you enjoy the privacy of your verandah overlooking majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. You could take a guided walk with local trackers who will show you the rich flora and fauna of this undiscovered paradise, knowing you are playing an important role in the conservation of this unique habitat. It will be up to you to decide what you would prefer to do: options include forest walks in the Chyulu, with a picnic on the hills, or a river walk and lunch at the camp, a visit to the Maasai village or an afternoon game walk or game drive and sundowner on a cliff looking for the elephants. One of the best options is an early morning game drive with bush breakfast near the spring -- walking next to elephants is almost guaranteed.
Game drive transfer from Campi ya Kanzi to Ol Donyo Wuas (approximately two hours)
Ol Donyo Wuas lies in the foothills of the Chyulu Range. The Chyulu Hills are the youngest range of volcanic hills in Africa, the last volcanic activity having only happened about 600 years ago. They are situated halfway between Tsavo and Amboseli National Parks on a concession of 300,000 acres of communally owned Maasai land, known as Mbirikani Group Ranch, which is also part of the Amboseli eco-system. The open plains, rolling hills and the snow topped Kilimanjaro invoke images of Africa as it was in the earlier part of the last century. Wildlife and Maasai herdsmen live, as nature determined they should, in this unspoiled corner of Kenya. Guests can plan their day choosing from a wide range of guided activities such as game drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers, walking safaris, horse riding, hiking in the mountain range or cultural exposure to traditional Maasai customs.
