Jongomero is set on the banks of the seasonal Jongomero River in the remote southwestern corner of Ruaha National Park - Tanzania’s second largest national park. Offering an exclusive safari experience and unmatched privacy, it is the only safari camp situated in this pristine area characterised by rocky outcrops, mountain ranges and the Great Ruaha River. Large elephant herds, wild dog, sable, both greater and lesser kudu, a plentiful predator population and more than 510 species of birds make Ruaha National Park a naturalist’s paradise. Accommodation at Jongomero comprises eight large and well-appointed tented suites, under enormous thatched roofs that also encompass a spacious private veranda overlooking the Jongomero River. Each tented suite features a dhow wood Emperor bed and an en suite bathroom with twin hand basins, spacious shower and w.c. The dining and living areas are both original and very comfortable offering a great vantage to take in the sights and sounds of the African bush that surrounds the Camp, as does the natural rock pool for those hot days. Delicious Pan-African cuisine is enjoyed in the spacious guest areas or on the riverbank. Jongomero aims to show you the full variety of scenery, flora, fauna, and the different wildlife they support that make Ruaha so diverse and interesting. From open plains to thick inhospitable bush, from the tranquil river scenes to great herds of buffaloes enveloped in clouds of dust as they make their way through the acacia woodlands, Ruaha rarely disappoints. The team of qualified guides will design your daily wildlife viewing program to both suit you, the changing seasons, and the movements of wildlife ensuring you the best possible experience whilst in Ruaha, by whatever means is most appropriate.
