Year round Kenya is a land of splendid and rarely matched sights. As you journey across the country, you experience numerous vista variations from snow-capped, glacial mountains to moorland, rare rainforest, and rolling savannahs with distant purple hills; and from mountain massifs to arid desert. Your safari begins with a visit to Amboseli, famous for its elephants and views of Mount Kilimanjaro, where your days and nights are spent “Hemingway style” in the African bush in a luxury, tented camp with spectacular views of the snows of Kilimanjaro -- enjoying both morning and afternoon game drives accompanied by your safari guide and nature walks guided by the local Masai. By charter flight you arrive at Elsa's Kopje, named after Elsa, the orphaned lioness reared by George and Joy Adamson. Located within Meru National Park, the landscape and vegetation is fascinating, tracing the lines of ancient landforms created by the series of lava flows off the Nyambeni Hills towards the Tana River many millions of years ago. Meru National Park in the old Northern Frontier District, is wild Africa at its most alluring. Activities at Elsa’s Kopje include twice daily game drives in 4WD open vehicles, guided nature walks, night game drives , fishing , bush breakfasts, picnics and sundowners followed by bush dinners, camping breaks and excursions to Kora National Park. Your safari concludes with a visit to the Masai Mara, forming the northern section of the great Serengeti and Mara ecosystems. The fertile Mara plains support an enormous amount of plains game and their predators creating a wildlife spectacle unrivalled anywhere in the world. Between July and October the Mara is host to the great wildebeest and zebra migration. Following the grazing, wildebeest and zebra converge on the lush Mara grasslands in the millions. Your stay at a private tented camp in the secluded, protected Koyiaki wilderness area, ensures a richly rewarding game viewing experience in the style of days gone by.
