On this safari you travel by charter flight to explore the jewels in Botswana’s crown, including the magnificent Victoria Falls, the wildlife rich Chobe National Park (Savuti), and the Okavango Delta. Focusing your safari in just one country provides an opportunity to fully appreciate and understand the environment and contrasting habitats of the wilderness areas of Botswana. Your safari features to a tented camp in the Chobe Game Reserve, where you experience some of the finest game drives and guided nature walks in Botswana; Jao Camp in the Okavango Delta, widely considered to be the “jewel of the Kalahari;” and the unique Jack’s Camp in the Makgadikgadi salt pans. Makgadikgadi is ‘the other’ significant geophysical phenomenon in Botswana, where you spend several days exploring this fascinating and unique area. On 4 wheel drive quad bikes, you explore the pans, often discovering unrecorded archeological sites rich in stone tools and fossils, the legacy of wetter times long ago. The camp itself is perhaps the most classic and traditional camp in southern Africa – rustic but quite comfortable. This journey takes you not only to another land, but to another time… Dotted with islands of palm and dense forest, juxtaposing desert and delta, the vast and pristine areas you will visit are explored by open vehicle, mokoro, boat, and on foot. Your camps are established in differing ecological habitats – with a focus on game as well as on water and birds. There will also be the unique opportunity to spend one night sleeping under the stars deep in the Delta (subject to availability).
